RAP Innovation and Development Pty Ltd

A company for the development of innovative measurement and sensor concepts for Industry

Industrial processes incorporate knowledge from a range of disciplines to make them operate to their fullest capability.  The range of knowledge includes sensor systems, chemical and physical knowledge, thermodynamic behaviour of processes, fluid and particle dynamics, control of processes, mathematics, simulation, computer programming and finite element analysis.

Fortunately, the science behind a range of these diverse processes is basically the same, allowing the knowledge from one industry to be applied to another.  The motivating requirement is the efficient use of and the minimization of energy as well as the sustainable resource utilization through appropriate use of and, if necessary the research and development, of technology.

All industries have a need for sensors and measurement approaches to enable the determination of their key process indicators.  Sometimes (often?) these sensors or measurement approaches have not yet been developed.  A measurement approach might involve a particular way of thinking about the process, use of mathematical models and/or multiple  types and number of sensors to yield the sought after determination.  With key information and understanding of a process available, targeted optimization can occur.

The use of the mathematical models presents other opportunities, for control of the process for example or it allows the improvement of the design or optimization of the process via simulation.  In the minerals sector, particular interests are preprocessing (eg. comminution) and separation technologies as well as mineralogical determinations.

At RAP Innovation and Development a wide range of skills and knowledge, such as those discussed above, are being bought to bear on industrial process solutions that are available from the Principal’s research and development experience over 26+ years which has included extensive on-site work.  Applications have been completed in mineral processing, sugar processing, steel and aerospace.
